Let's face it; You're probably not as productive as you could be.

None of us are. It would be impossible to ALWAYS operate at 100% of our potential output.

With that said, there are several easy changes you could make that can make your day noticeably more productive.

Yes, it is possible to improve your productivity without slugging back three extra coffees or simply 'working more hours'.

It just takes a little bit of discipline, but the rewards are well worth it.

Let's get started.

Productivity Hack #1: WAKE UP EARLY

By early, we don't mean 8 o'clock in the morning

Try 6:00 AM.

5 is even better.

The most productive humans on this planet WAKE UP EARLY, often starting their work day before the sun rises.

Why is waking up early so great for productivity?

For starters, it makes you feel better about yourself. You're showing yourself a level of discipline that most people do not ascribe to. You're up, it's still dark outside, and you're ready to take on the world.

This does wonders for your morale, or whatever you want to call it. It just feels great.

Further, your key 'energy' hormones are peaking at around 5 or 6 AM.

Cortisol, which is commonly thought to be a negative-only stress hormone, is actually critical for getting us into gear to start our day with vigor. It is maximized in the AM and declines significantly at night.

Testosterone & thyroid hormone levels are also maximized in the early morning and they too are critical for maintaining our energy levels.

Finally, waking up early will inevitably cause you to sleep less.

And as it turns out, sleeping less is actually GREAT for productivity...

Productivity Hack #2: Sleep LESS

Most of us have read those tacky fitness & bodybuilding magazines that tell us that we NEED to sleep for 9-10+ hours per night.

This is simply not true at all.

The only reason that the bodybuilders in these magazines sleep so much is because they work out for HOURS every day and take large amounts of highly anabolic compounds.

That wears out the body and those guys NEED to sleep 10+ hours just to feel half-decent.

You're probably working out for 45 minutes to an hour and NOT taking large amounts of steroids.

You DO NOT need 10 or 9 or even 8 hours of sleep.

Clinical studies have shown that we only need 6 or 7 hours, such as here.

All the time, you'll hear successful people talk about how they only sleep a few hours per night.

Sleep less.

You'll have more time in your day and you're brain will be more alert.

Go to bed at 10:00 PM and wake up at 5:00 AM, watch your goals become reality in a span of months, and then send us a big happy thank you email for this tip.

Besides, how productive is that dude you know that wakes up at 1:00 PM after a 12 hour snooze?

Exactly.

Productivity Hack #3: If you're gonna drink alcohol, take NAC

We probably don't need to tell you that alcohol destroys performance.

We've all experienced this.

It dulls out senses, lowers our key hormones & neurotransmitters, and ruins sleep quality.

However if you want to still enjoy alcohol and be somewhat productive, check out a little supplement called NAC.

Productivity Hack #4: Delete Facebook & Other Social Media

Excessive use of social media usage has been linked to increased depressive feelings.

Constantly viewing other people's lifestyles (or the part of their lifestyle they want you to see) can make you compare your life to theirs and feel insecure.

In addition, social media these days is bombarded with charged up content that can make you angry.

Who needs either when productivity is your goal?

Scrolling up and down your Facebook or Instagram feed is a brutal waste of time.

Unless you use social media for business, you should delete it right now.

Use that time instead to build your business or learn something new.

If you're going to stare at a screen, it might as well be for productive purposes.

This is another tip you will likely thank us for.

Productivity Hack #5: Write Down Your Next Day's Tasks The Night Before

Attacking your day without a to-do list is a dangerous proposition.

You are likely to get overwhelmed or get off-track.

The easiest way to stay on track and maintain productivity all day is to have a to-do list.

As simple as it sounds, it works extremely well for staying on target and getting stuff done.

Write a to-do list for every day, and do it the night before.

The added benefit is that it can help you fall asleep easier because your head will not be swimming with all of the stuff you have to do the next day.

It's on the paper. Your brain knows it's all waiting there for you at 5:00 AM.

You can get your 6 or 7 hours of sleep and hammer that list hard the next day.

As you'll quickly find, it is quite addicting to cross off your tasks.

This is great for productivity because the aggregate of all of the tiny daily tasks will eventually lead you to accomplishing some massive feats.

Productivity Hack #6: Exercise Every Morning On An Empty Stomach

There are so many benefits to doing this. It should be #1.

In fact, ignore that it is listed at #6. Do this if nothing else.

It doesn't have to be a long workout.

A 30 minute session on an empty stomach shortly after you wake up can:

- Drastically improve your mood for the entire day.

- Increase your energy levels for the entire day.

- Make your body leaner and stronger (the mind and body are closely connected)

- Jump-start your morning.

- Increase your motivation.

- Reduce your stress.

We recommend an intense weightlifting workout.

You don't need to use heavy weights or workout longer than 30 minutes.

Just keep the rest intervals short and keep your heart pumping fast.

The rest of your day will be much more productive as a result.

Productivity Hack #7: Shut Down At Night

Have a time at night where you just stop working & stop thinking.

For a lot of self-employed people out there that work from home, this one is a huge challenge.

We know all about it.

When you work all day from your home office, it can be hard to just stop working and relax.

You're literally always 'in the office' and your mind is always on work.

This is not necessarily a bad thing, but you don't want to burn yourself out.

There are a lot of options here to improve your work life balance while still maintaining peak productivity.

We recommend setting an approximate time every day that you will stop working.

For example, if you're waking up at 5:00 AM you could work until roughly 6:00 PM. With a bed time around 10 or 11, that would give you at least 4 solid shut-down hours.

During those hours, stay off the electronics. Using electronics late at night messes up your body's circadian rhythm and can make it tough to fall asleep.

Seriously though, try and enjoy the many wonderful aspects of life that do not require electricity.

Your productivity the next day will be greater for it.

Productivity Hack #8: Listen to EDM Music While You Work

We just know it works.

There is something about this type of music (Electronic Dance Music, House Music, Electro etc.) that is fantastic for firing it up and getting stuff done.

Give it a try.
